Each year the VTLSP/SADD Board chooses a VTLSP/SADD school advisor that has demonstrated exceptional work to assist their students to succeed in the program. This year the winner is Sue Brown of Concord H.S.
(award as presented at GYLC by Mark Floyd - VTLSP Coordinator)
Each year at GYLC we recognize the accomplishments of a school advisor who works hard to ensure that VTLSP/SADD is an active group within your school and that your hard work and dedication can continue. By working hard as your advisor and advocate, chapter advisors provide a valuable service to you and to this organization; we could not do this without them!
This year's Advisor of the Year has been in the role for just a few years - however, the impact this person has been able to make is recognized by her school, her community and her colleagues. After taking over for someone who had been an advisor for many years, this VTLSP/SADD advisor began to add additional responsibilities to the role as the school's Student Assistance Program Counselor. Working with other peer programs like VKAT, this advisor began to develop relationships with middle school students because research has proven that prevention and leadership skills are important at that age and the idea was to get kids involved and keep them around from middle school until they graduated from high school.
Community groups, organizations, coalitions and others have benefited from the dedication and commitment this advisor displays all the time. As a tireless educator and resource, this advisor gives hours of her time to help students in the school continue to make an impact on their peers and on those in their community. Serving in a very small rural community, this advisor gives her time and her own resources to ensure success for the VTLSP/SADD chapter at the school.
I could say more - but I'll stop now. I am thrilled to present the 2007 VTLSP/SADD Advisor of the Year to Sue Roberts from Concord High School.

Congratulations Sue, and thanks for a job well done!
